Frequently, the fortunes of a matrimony can go forth the people involved experiencing empty and unloved. These feelings of hopelessness can take people to do uncharacteristic picks. Adultery, even in a matrimony without love, can hold a dramatic consequence on the people involved. For the extramarital spouse, the feelings of guilt and anxiousness can frequently take to overpowering confusion. The short narrative & # 8220 ; The Lady with the Pet Dog & # 8221 ; by Oates, shows how the act of rip offing creates confusion in the head of the chief character thorough usage of an unchronological construction, and unusual character development.
First, the construction of the narrative reflects Anna & # 8217 ; s province of head. The events in the narrative seem to take topographic point with a entire neglect for timekeeping. Anna is ashamed of what she has done, and afraid of the hurting it will do her hubby, yet she feels compelled to make it once more, even traveling so far as to depict her lover as her existent hubby. In decision, Anna & # 8217 ; s character development and the non-sequitor agreement of the narrative both add to confusion and the inability to understand the matter that is of all time present in the narrative. Her ill-defined and illogical determination doing leaves her with the feeling of holding accomplished a major event in her baffled life. Knowing that her actions her morally incorrect, Anna feels as if she had been & # 8220 ; acting correctly. & # 8221 ;
