The Age of Elizabeth
This period took place during the reign of Queen Elizabeth in 1550 to 1630. Queen Elizabeth was a wise queen. She always relied on her advisers named William Cecil and Baron Burghley. Elizabeth’s reign was known as a golden age marked by the settlement of problems, such as religion, peace with Scotland, the harmony of the national government, and so on. At this time also accompanied by the emergence of many writers, and one of the well-known writers who became a good friend of Queen Elizabeth was William Shakespeare.
William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564, to April 23, 1616. He had become a novel writer in the UK and his family was also known to love things related to art and literature. His father, John Shakespeare, came from an honorable family who lived in the Reformation of King Henry VII, John who at that time became a king’s confidence duty to confiscate certain items. During his life, Shakespeare met with a girl and decide to marry her. Her name was Anne Hathaway. From the marriage, they had three children, their name were, Susanna, Hamnet, and Judith.
William Shakespeare began his career as an author between 1585 until 1613. And in the early 1590s, William was in London and worked as a member of a traveling show. William was successful enough to become an actor but later turned the profession into a scriptwriter and poetry. In 1598, William had been hailed as the greatest writer in Britain. He lived in London for about 20 years. During that time, he has produced 36 plays, 154 sonnets, and some longer poems. In 1597, he was able to buy a house in Stratford. Through the result of his works that Shakespeare could finance his family life and could become a good friend of Queen Elizabeth.
Around the year of 1610, William Shakespeare, at the age of 46, left London to Stratford. There, he stayed with his family at a house that he had bought in 1597. He started to think about retirement in his job as a writer and began to focus on with his family life. William Shakespeare also retired his life at the age of 52. The cause of his death was unknown, but some people speculate that he may suffer from illness months before his death. Later on, William Shakespeare was buried. So, Shakespeare was one of the most famous writers in The Age of Elizabeth. He made a living by making famous works and was able to be a special guest of Queen Elizabeth. At the time, Queen Elizabeth loved the work of Shakespeare. This era had managed to inspire everyone with unlimited patriotism brought by his Shakespeare work entitled The Faery Queen.
