I would also like to thank my dad because he gave me some ideas and let me conduct this experiment. I would also like to thank Ms. Machado because if she had not assigned this project, I would not have been able to learn so much about this topic.

Purpose and Hypothesis The purpose of this experiment was to see if a light affects the growth of a plant. This information can help us because if we need to grow a plant and there is no sun, then we can use a light and the plant will still grow the same way as it would in the sun. I think that the 10 volt lamp will make the plant grow the largest because my research shows that the more light that plants get, the better it will grow.  Review of Literature Research shows that the more light that plants get the better they grow. The article ‘Do plants grow as well under artificial light?’ has some evidence. The author(2009) states that”Researchers can successfully grow plants using only artificial light in growth chambers.

” (p.1) There are many reasons why this is true. One is because although sunlight is what is most needed, it has been tested that you can still grow plants from artificial light. Also, the 4 fundamental things that plants need are water, soil, and sunlight to grow.

Additionally, plants are very gentle and sensitive plants so you always have to be careful while handling and caring for plants. The author(2009) states that “Researchers can successfully grow plants using only artificial light in growth chambers.” This shows that we can grow plants without sunlight but, you just need to do it properly and effectively. Secondly, plants need 4 things to survive. They need water, fertilizer, and sunlight.

The text states(2009)”Plants, like all living organisms have basic needs: a source of nutrition (food), water, space in which to live, air, and optimal temperatures in order to grow and reproduce. For most plants, these needs are summarized as light, air, water, and nutrients (known by the acronym LAWN).” This piece of evidence shows that plants only need 4 things to live. Lastly, plants are very gentle plants so they can die very easily. The text(2013) states “plants are extremely gentle and can die very easily” Tis shows us that plants are very gentle and vulnerable to die quickly. All in all, the more light that plants get the better they grow.

When the plant gets more light, it is likely to grow more and grow faster because plants need sunlight to grow. Conclusion, Reflection, and ApplicationConclusion: My project is about how a light will affect the growth of a plant. I wanted to know if light will actually make a difference on the growth of plants. I tested my hypothesis by putting 1 plant under the 5 and 10 volt lamp and 1 in the dark. I think that my hypothesis was right because I know that plants need sunlight to grow so, the 10 volt lamp acts like the sun for the plants that I was trying to grow.Reflection: I think my test was mostly fair. This is because there might have been some obstacles but, it was mostly without outliers. These outliers may not have made a huge impact on my experiment but, maybe a slight impact.

This is because my test was mostly fair. I could have tried to put the other 2 plants away from any other light that could go to those plants that I tested. Application: My project can apply to people who can’t grow plants in the sunlight. They can now grow with some lamps and they will grow the same way as they would in the sun.
