The idea of romanticism is not about being romantic, it is more of how people interpret it. People mislead romanticism to romance which is completely different, The idea of romance is an intimate relationship between two people while romanticism is more to individual’s romantic character. In the book into the wild by Jon Krakauer, Chris Mccandless the main character of this play has that romanticism attitude towards his life. All his journey that he have attempted was filled with romanticism which most people don’t realize it. Nature is a part of Mccandless life where his romanticism characteristics are mostly shown, In Into The Wild McCandless stated his opinion “Nature was something savage and awful, though beautiful (Krakauer 172).” This statements explains of how McCandless feelings and emotions towards nature, it is harsh and rough but the nature is beautiful in its own way. Mccandless perspective towards life is about his own freedom being in the wild alone far away from politics, hypocrites, and Parents. As he stated “McCandless was thrilled to be on his way north, and he was relieved as well—relieved that he had again evaded the impending threat of human intimacy, of friendship, and all the messy emotional baggage that comes with it.”(Krakauer, 55). McCandless is a passionate and selfish guy that never care of what other people thinks about him as long as he is happy and free he will do anything that other people have never experienced, as stated “You are wrong if you think joy emanates only or principally from human relationships. God has placed it all around us. It is in everything and anything we experience. We just have to have the courage to turn against our habitual lifestyle and engage in unconventional living. ” (McCandless 57). This a good example of romanticism that people should not be afraid to experience new things in their life, if we got the chance to do it then take it don’t be afraid that people will judge us.
