This essay aims to address the issue of gender inequalities. Different examples are given of how men are ruling on women, and society does not respond in any way, because it has taken the fact that, as men have been born, they have to show authority and strength, while female sex is definitely gentle and care. The main question in this course work is Why Women?
In what world do we live today? Each of us sinks into an invisible fog of division and discrimination or on the contrary – it is visible to everyone, everyone knows about its existence, everyone has experienced its impact but no one can do anything or more – no one wants to stand up against the established norms for centuries?
Divisions of race, nationality, age, religion, sex, and even a preferred hobby or type of music exist all over the earth. There is no such place on the planet where people are so understood, liberal and empowered, where they are the same, have the same social status, publicity, rights and obligations.
And so the most obvious and obvious discrimination – the one between the sexes – is the unequal treatment of “gentle” and “strong” sex. Namely women and men.
Despite the many initiatives and efforts made by some countries’ policies, men and women do not always start on equal starting positions in many areas, or rather in most areas. This is the case, for example, in the profession, in the amount of salary, in participation in politics and in the achievement of a career-family balance and much more. Men and women are not given the opportunity to choose what to learn, what to do, because this is already prescribed by public prejudices about their sex.
Indicators for gender equality in employment are equal pay for equal work, access to training, career development, promotion and career advancement. However, inequalities exist and they are mainly reflected in access to resources (pay, incentives, training, promotion). In its 2002 report, the National Vocational Education Observatory found that companies prefer to invest in in-house training for men, with a figure of up to 30% higher than that of women. There is still some distrust of women’s abilities.The reason is the patriarchal stereotypes about the role of the sexes, which most often occur in the division of labor and the positions of “males” and “females”; in certain expectations about male and female behavior; in the difficult socialization of some employees in teams dominated by the other sex; in problems caused by favoritism by gender; in difficulty in reconciling professional and family responsibilities; in hidden sex discrimination or sexual harassment in the workplace. • Women face difficulties in recruiting;• inadequately represented in decision-making bodies;• they are not always given the due recognition as professionals (women are associated with executive activities and work does not always meet their skills and qualifications);• are forced to perceive the role model of men if they want to succeed in their careers;• Their style of communication and leadership differs from that of men and is not appreciated by dignity by the superiors;• suppressing qualities that are negatively evaluated as feminine (personality orientation, sensitivity to the needs of others, consensus building);• In many companies there is a so-called glass ceiling (women only grow up to a certain position in the hierarchy);• there is no sensitivity for sexist behaviors, etc. Even more rare are the studies that show how the role and participation of men in the labor market change in the conditions of a high-tech and competitive economy. How does the man in a couple feel, for example, where the woman not only earns money, but sometimes it is more successful in the profession. Or what is the experience and how does the man who returns to the labor market after parental leave deal with the professional challenges?As research shows, reconciliation of family and professional duties is the most important issue for both women and men. The long hours of work in the office, the pursuit of career development and success make it difficult for many families, especially those with children. This imposes new models for childcare and the introduction of a flexible policy towards parents.Women enjoy a successful career as well, but men are the ones for which the highest posts are reserved. It is sexual discrimination that is one of the obstacles for the tender half of humanity to succeed.Even with the same higher education, women do not receive such recognition professionally as men. According to surveys carried out in the field, the average wage of women in different spheres of activity is lower than that of men, which leads to the conclusion that a woman’s household is significantly poorer than the man who is the head of family.Mothers, compared to women who have no children, are perhaps the most discriminated against, as they get around gender discrimination at work1 / 3 of lower pay than men, and if they are unemployed, it is a real leap to find work, as most employers do not want to risk having an employee who will often be absent from work to be able to take care of their children.In some societies it is believed that the emancipation of women is a prerequisite for the collapse of the patriarchate and a threat to the traditional patriarchal roles. For men, professional success and financial stability are perhaps the only things that give them power in life and family. That is why the income gap can become a prerequisite for family wars if the woman is the one that excels man financially and feeds the family. It is under the dignity of most men is to exchange their role of “head of family” with that of “housewife”. It is precisely because of the desire of women to enter society that they are subjected to a number of procedures that would provide them with a better appearance and, respectively, a better position and a better perception than others. Since ancient times, the woman has been made to make such changes in appearance as for example to wear a corset that will diminish her waist and lift her bust. Nowadays, the methods are different but with the same focus – they are dieting, they enlarge take bones, lips, drink weight loss pills, reduce abdominal procedures.And they do not do it for their own satisfaction, but only to be admitted to those places where they are not, because of the way they look or rather because of the way they are set to look. which SHOULD look.The nature and extent of discrimination vary widely between countries and regions. But its uniform manifestations are startling. For example, in none of the developing countries there is equality between women and men, neither equality of law, nor social and economic rights.The inequality is widespread in the area of ??access to resources, as well as their management, economic opportunities, power and political visibility. Women and girls are the most widespread and most affected by this inequality, but its implications extend to the whole of society, ultimately affecting everyone.For these reasons, gender equality is a major problem for the development of society – an objective of development itself and its right. Equality strengthens the ability of countries to develop, reduce poverty and be effectively managed. That is why promoting gender equality must be an important part of the development strategy that aims to enable all people – women and men to feel more comfortable in society, have equal opportunities and equal rights.Both race, ethnicity, class, religion, and gender are a social category that broadly defines chances in life. Nowadays it is fashionable to show the masculinity and power of men over women. Many women are trapped in a relationship that is fraught with violence and it is everyday action. Women remain in this trap because they are subordinate to their place in society. Even today stereotypes exist, men continue to be accepted in the social society as dominant and active, while women are subordinate and passive.Professionally, in most moments, women are given a job of care. Although there are all kinds to prevent or postpone pregnancy such as contraception and abortion, the woman’s main mission in her life is to produce and protect her family. Women still fail to deal with the problem of obedience.Ever since the eighteenth century industrial stereotypes have been adopted for men, which assigns them the strength, will and courage of any kind of action, and the female has presented gentleness, patience, tranquility and maternal instinct.This situation is legitimized by the Napoleonic Code, depriving all women of their own rights and making them the property of men.
