Why fast food getting to be
a problem? Is it bad because it has a high amount of fat and sugar? Many people
love fast food but do not even care what it does to their body which give a big
impact to their health especially. Life is too short to eat fast food and we
should grab this golden opportunity to take care of our daily diet. So that, we
can enjoy our life from any serious health problem. Move beyond sweet and salt-
let 5 flavors blow your mind”, Julie Daniluk. Fast food is a food which contain
high in calories and saturated fat, salt or sugar  that is prepared and served very faster and
eaten in a hurry. It is also usually  loaded
with unhealthy food additives. The food typically lacks nutritional value
compared to other foods that need to be cook manually. Fast food, like drugs,
it can lead to addiction. The more you eat, the more you will get addicted
because it is so cheap, yummy, juicy, crispy and easy to get anywhere. As for
that, we must put some efforts to transform into a helthy diet, “To eat is a necessity,
but to eat intelligently is an art” -Francois de La Rochefoucauld. Your brain
is telling you to eat fast food, but your heart is telling you to stop because
you know the consequences. The big problem is people, with their busy
schedules, have no time to think if it is good to eat fast food or not. Once
you enter the fast food restaurant, you will want to eat there more. The fact,
we should realize that they use very cheap ingredients in fast food which can
cause certain disease and bad impact on health. Despite its taste and price,
fast food can be very dangerous to us in the long term effect, which is why we
should be aware of the risks and impacts that it can give us so we can live a
healthy lifestyle. What are the effects of fast food on our body and is it
serious?

     First
and foremost, fast food is one of the most favorite food in this world,
especially among kids and teenagers. However, there are many bad effects of
fast food on our body which is heightened the risk of heart disease. Firstly,
according to Horn (2017), the words
“fast food” may conjure images of greasy burgers, salty fries and frosty shakes
brimming with fat and sugar. As we already know, most of the fats often derived
from animal and plant oils. Fats that are commonly found in fast food actually
are made up of saturated fatty acid which
can clog the flow of blood in the artery. For example, you will find it
abundant in, say, a cheeseburger. Furthermore, this will block the circulation
of blood throughout your heart and effect the entering of oxygen to the brain.
Because of that, they tend to have heart attack and stroke at anytime. White
(2017) expresses that, these fats can raise the blood cholesterol levels, which
lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. So kick your fast-food
habit and love your heart. Besides that, when you consuming large quantities of
added sugars in fast food, it can increase blood fats and also contribute to
your risk of heart disease. Apart from that, it is not too late for us to move
into another healthier diet. Based on the article by American Heart Association
(2017), state that diet is an important part of our overall health. A diet high
in saturated and trans fats raises blood
cholesterol — a major risk
factor for heart disease and stroke. Too
much sodium can raise your blood
pressure and too much fat and sugar can lead to obesity, both of which may contribute to heart disease as well. So
that, we must take care of our daily diet before anything going happen.
“Prevent is better than cure”, is the right one to realize us how important our
health based on our diet.

Secondly, the fast food habit can increase
your obesity risk. However, people nowadays still eat fast food because it is cheap and yet a popular way
for people who are too busy to cook. This is not impossible if people that
still with this habit will become obese in the next 5 years if they keep eating
this food the way they are. For example, majority of fast food are loaded with
calories, large portion size and high fat but very low in nutritional value. Basically,
the average person need to consume about 400-600 calories in mealtime.Too much
of calorie makes your body lack nutrients it needs to function properly. According to White (2017), the high-calorie intake
can lead to obesity, which puts you at risk of developing chronic diseases.
This is because most ingredients in fast food is
not a balanced diet, it consists mainly of meat and bread and a few of
vegetables which are not organic at all. Furthermore, fast food usually
contains lots of excess sugar and fat that will accumulate on your body and
cause weight gain. Besides that, the more frequent you enter the fast
food restaurants is directly proportional with your body weight. Parents should
take the right actions because the battle against fast food begins in the home.
In the article by Weintraub (2014), explains that parents play the important
role to control what their kids eat and responsible for the eating habits of
their kids. Parents are responsible for their children and are to blame when
their children become obesity. Based on Bariatric Surgery Source (2017), people who visited fast food restaurants more than
twice per week gained roughly between 4 to 5 kg more than people who visited
them less than once per week. Worldwide, about 22 million children under age 5
are estimated to be obese or overweight.”Take care of your body, it’s the only
place you have to live”, says Jim Rohn. So that, we must realize that obesity
is a disease. It makes everything taste good except salad. Let makes changes
and turn into a good diet.

Lastly, eating fast food will risk you in
serious anxiety. For example, there is a lack of omega-3 fatty acids in fast
foods. Omega-3 fatty acids are very useful for the treatment of depression and
also prevent psychosis. As a consequence, it may create a more anxious mental
state. According to the article “Eat This Not That”(2017), it’s not what fast
food lacks can cause anxiety, the excess sugar in the fast food also lead to
fluctuations in blood sugar which turns your blood sugar dips into hypoglycemic
levels that contribute to anxiety or panic attacks. Furthermore, fast food is
high in sugar and fat content which actually changes the chemical activity of
the brain or alters the way your brain functions making it more depending on
such foods and craving some more fast food. The brain communicate with the body
by releasing hormones like leptin and ghrenin to tell it when it is genuinely
hungry versus full. But, when you eat too much fast food will makes you craving
glucose all the time. This can make your brain susceptible to memory loss and
depression. In addition, consuming too much fast food may lose out essential
nutrients in your body which can increase feelings of depression. Other than
that, mostly fast food contains trans-fatty acid that causes serious
depression. Based on the researched by Dr. Almudena, an imbalance of fatty
acids in the body is the main reason why many people become depressed.
Moreover, the symptom that we can see to the people who had an anxiety is the
inability to handle stress and tend to harm themselves. So that, let’s leave the fast food in and get back to eating the way we
were meant to!

So, in conclusion, although fast food is
very delicious and eating it once in a while is fine, but eating fast food too
frequently or excessively may result in health problem which gives bad effects
on our body especially. But not all of the fast food are unhealthy, there are a
few fast food chains do offer healthy choices on their menus, though some are
unhealthy, hence we have to choose wisely. However, many peoples blame the fast
food industry for over-advertising, selling unhealthy food and selling
oversized portions. Personally, in my opinion no one should be blame because it
is a matter of personal responsibility. There are several effects of fast food
on our body such as heightened the risk of heart disease, a risk of serious
anxiety and increase your obesity risk. What we eat influences the way we feel
today and even the way we thinking of something. In addition, we should realize
fast food is a silent killer on our body. So, if you love people around, you
should advise and do something drastically to make them realize the long
term-effect of fast food. From the bottom of my heart, I really hope that
people will open their eyes and aware of this negative effects of fast food on
body and health. At the beginning, we can try not to eat fast food frequently.
At least twice or once in a month. Foods is what fuels your body, so in a sense,
“You are what you eat” – so don’t be fast, cheap, easy or fake”. Slowly we can
change to a healthy diet to maintain the healthy body in future.
