With this letter, I would like to express my interest in
studying PhD program in Integrative Physiology at CDBS.
I am a Veterinarian and I completed my Master’s degree in Veterinary
Pharmacology at Mathura Veterinary College on July 2016 in India. As highly
motivated to do my further studies abroad and to add a broad dimension of my
outlook to life and my future career, I looked through the curriculum of
Edinburgh,UK; I was very delighted to find the opportunity to apply for this
program. I am sure it would strongly enrich my future studies and help me in my
prospective career. I completed my one year of experience as senior research
fellow (SRF), a Government of India project. Moreover, I consider this
programme as a great opportunity to get in touch with English culture and
educational system. I am also very curious about different approaches to the
life sciences at your university.
I chose to apply for Edinburgh University, because I appreciate the wide range
of offered modules and the freedom in choosing a study plan. Very important for
me is also an “Excellent” rating for learning at Edinburgh University. The
other main reason that university being specialized in interdisciplinary
research approach; which is my field of interest and the kind of exposure it
would facilitate in achieving a better health.
I believe a strong command in techniques, involving functional studies (smooth
muscle) and molecular techniques (RNA and DNA isolation) and cloning procedures
can help me pursue my research better. Under the able guidance of Dr. Michael
Shipston, I strongly believe working under him will be a part of the greatest
achievement that I get, and with supportive funding from Indian Government I
can pursue my dreams. Knowledge of statistical analysis software is an added
advantage in pursuing courses. I won “Natarajan Award” which is awarded for the
best paper presentation and won several others in clinical conferences. Having
qualified for National eligibility test (NET-2016), and with a strong hold in
my academics and with interest in science and technological advances, this
course would broaden my perception of GC and its effects.
Edinburgh University can help me follow my passion with a research–oriented
goal and bolster my dreams of achieving big. This would give me a chance to
deepen my knowledge in the inspiring, creative, and cosmopolite environment of
one of the largest English universities. Furthermore, I am looking forward to
work in a culturally diverse environment with other scientific minds in
pursuing PhD in a different country and increase my confidence and exposure.
Moreover, I am certain that my experience in UK would be extremely exciting,
fun, and valuable for both my studies and overall general development.
I am awarded with Netaji Subas International Fellowship to work under
Dr.Michael Shipston under the proposed title “Glucocorticoid negative
feedback controls multiple ion channels in pituitary corticotrophs to regulate
the stress axis”. I will be dedicated and continue to be an outstanding
student in your university. I look forward to your positive response.
